Chris Waling

(at KEGS 1983-1987) writing in 2019

I left KEGS in 1987 to pursue a career as a chef, working at The Angel Hotel, and so began the career of travelling around and learning my trade. To the Swan in Lavenham, the Farmers Club in Bury and on to Surrey, Hampshire and across most of the South working in the different departments of various hotels.

I spent a short time of travelling in Australia, before returning to the UK to continue working in catering from Cambridge to Manchester. As time went on, I developed to become a trainer, where I am now plying my trade with the National Trust. I am married, we have 2 children (8 and 12). I have been a town councillor and now am a Rotarian for the RC Crewe.
