This is a rare tale. Probably few people have risen above 80% disablement to practice in Harley Street. Maybe fewer people with prognoses of early death have travelled globally teaching health and spirituality to thousands of students.
I was born with a serious immune deficiency. Hospitalised numerous times from birth, doctors said I would not live to become a teenager. At 12 years old, I had defied doctors’ prognoses. I was ill, but alive. So I attended a boarding school for very sick children. Two years of non-school work and relaxation gave hope for a healthier life.
At 14, doctors felt I could manage school, but not survive travel. Despite missing years of lessons through illness, KEGS boarders entered my life. I loved KEGS library, reading a book daily, remembering word positions on pages. Passing ‘O’-Levels meant flicking through books half an hour before an exam. I realised why I’d been sent to a good school. I had a photographic memory.
Despite ongoing severe illness, I have fond memories of KEGS, School House, and the boarders. Especially Andrew Martin my table tennis partner, and Bill Evetts, my “study mate”, who were particularly kind and supportive.
In adulthood, I was often hospitalized. Doctors registered me as 80% disabled, unable to work. But KEGS-instilled strength motivated me to become a Cold War photographer on US Airforce bases in West Germany; the UK government’s MSC trained me as consultant for businesses with £10m turnover; and I competed in international chess tournaments. But jobs and hobbies never lasted. I always ended up in hospital.
One day a lady saw I was ill, and placed her hands on me for ten minutes. Incredible vitality coursed through me. Being substantially cured, inspiration came to travel and seek additional cures evidenced in one country but not available elsewhere. Eventually I taught numerous therapies including for depression, ADHD, cancers, emotions, fatigue, migraine, sciatica, stress, tinnitus, and trauma.
Invitations followed to be therapy trainer for UK prisons, a British Psychological Society’s research officer, member of a House of Commons health committee via Doctor Healer Network. I own beach houses in Margate and Philippines. (1966 6th formers are invited for a free holiday). I had a Harley Street clinic, published a 32-page Healing News magazine, appeared on TV/radio internationally, ran my 22-bed residential clinic, and was a therapist to four royal families.
Now, 72 years old, I have chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), and emphysema. The prognosis is early death. But I can’t surrender. A major publisher has just accepted my 20th book. In 2020-21 courses are planned for Greece, Mexico, Australia. I’m designing three new websites, to help humanity. Etc…
Some people ask when I’ll retire. The answer is always the same. Retirement from helping others will come after my death. Thank you KEGS and OB’s, for helping me along the road.
