After I left KEGS I worked as an apprentice trainee planner in West Suffolk planning department for several years. In those days most planners got qualified by day release and night school. After intermediate qualifying I moved on to Dorset and then, with my finals, on to Hertfordshire.
Planning has been a great career, although I found my time in the private sector much more satisfying. Anyone interested in the environment would be likely to enjoy it. Jane, my wife, and I now live in the wonderful town of Saffron Walden, where we have lots of different interests. We still see a small number of old KEGS friends and come back to Bury from time to time. Bury and KEGS were certainly a good foundation for my life.
