I attended Loughborough Colleges/University 1973-1977 studying P.E. & Geography (Cert.Ed and B.Ed Jt. Honours). Appointed in 1977 at Stowmarket High School as a P.E. teacher, then progressed to Head of Department, Head of Year, Senior Teacher before taking early retirement December 2009. Current interests include PGCE Course Tutor for Buckingham University P.E. Students; ski instructing (mainly in Austria); skiing – I try to get in at least 3 ski holidays with friends apart from my instructing; cricket umpire for all school age levels County teams; umpiring for, and watching, Stowmarket C.C.; travelling and gradually ticking things and places off my “bucket list”; golf – the game that all sportsmen resort to when they’re too old to play football, hockey, and cricket any more! I’m a member of Stowmarket Golf Club (any ex-mates are always welcome to have a game!), and usually play 2-3 times a week when time/circumstances permit; cycling – now that I’m well past my “sell by”, I try to keep reasonably fit for skiing by cycling those days when I’m not playing golf. Gone are the days when I could just go from one sport to another without any aches and pains – now I do a good Douglas Bader impersonation for 2 or 3 days if I haven’t kept myself reasonably active.

I enjoy meeting old mates/teachers particularly in Sainsburys!! However, I’m disappointed that some of those people have now moved up-market to Waitrose (Les Turner for one!!), so I don’t bump into them so often. Please pass on my best to my old teachers, particularly Jim Lang, Dave Richards, and any others who had the pleasure ?? of my company – it would be nice to have a reunion with them sometime in the near future. Best wishes to all who know (knew) me, and feel free to contact me via my email : da.aldous@virgin.net
