(at KEGS 1965-1972) writing in 2019

After KEGS I entered employment with the erstwhile West Suffolk County Council as a trainee quantity surveyor. Six years and two jobs later I left local government and entered private practice. At the age of 27 I finally achieved Chartered Quantity Surveyor status via the external examinations route. Leaving private practice I entered the rather different world of quantity surveying for construction and shop fitting companies. I finally decided to cease arguing about money at the age of 61. After a short period of unemployment I obtained my 9th job as a part time delivery van driver at the local university. The hourly rate is much less, but the job does not come home with me!
