I had a career in textiles as a dyeing and finishing technician, firstly in UK then in New Zealand, emigrating in 1973 with my wife Anna. We lived in Auckland until 1988 when we bought a small farm on the Awhitu Peninsula, about an hour’s drive from Auckland, between the Manukau Harbour and the Tasman Sea. I commuted to work while Anna ran the farm with my help in the weekends. We breed beef cattle and sheep.

Now retired, we still farm and are involved with local environmental groups restoring native bush (woodland) and beach dune systems, undertaking planting native plants and pest control of introduced mammal pests which prey on native vegetation and wildlife.
