Having left KEGS in 1977 I went on to train as a Trading Standards Officer with Suffolk County Council. Upon qualifying I moved to Hertfordshire County Council, then Cambridgeshire County Council, and was transferred to Peterborough City Council when that authority became unitary in 1998. Ultimately I was Head of Trading Standards for the City Council. In 2004, after 25 years in local Government, I had a career change when I joined Civica, a software company that supplies solutions to Government and Local Government organisations both in the UK and, now, around the world. I’ve fulfilled a number of customer-facing roles in the company in the subsequent 15 years. I celebrated entitlement to a Senior Railcard recently, and took the opportunity to go half-time at work!
